This specimen was lot 1301 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €120 (about US$166 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Philippe IV (1621-1665), AR demi-patagon, 1634, Anvers. D/ Croix de Bourgogne sous une couronne, portant le bijou de la Toison d'or. R/ Ecu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. De la plus haute rareté. Frappe faible. Fêlure du flan. (duchy of Brabant, Philip IV, 1621-65, silver half patagon of 1634, Antwerp mint. Obverse: Burgundian cross under a crown, supporting the jewel of the Golden Fleece; reverse: crowned arms, order chain around. extremely rare, weakly struck, planchet crack, Fine - Very Fine.)"

One patagon was 48 sols, stuivers or patards. It was roughly equal to a leeuvendaalder but had about 18% more silver. Patagons are notoriously badly struck. This type was struck at Antwerp 1623, 1627-28, 1631-39, 1645 and 1651-55.

Specification: 14.05 g, 0.875 fine silver, 36 mm diameter, this specimen 13,71 g.
