Sedwick Treasure Auction 35, lot 1068

This specimen was lot 1068 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 35 (Winter Park, FL, May 2024), where it sold for $540. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Potosí, cob 8 reales, 1734 E. Chunky XF+ with full pillars (especially the right one) showing clear date and bold assayer, the cross also full but off-center, lightly toned all over." This type was struck for Philip V 1729-47, superseding a type (KM 29) which was 0.931 fine. Assayer E stamped coins 1733-36.
