Bolivia 1728-P M 2 reales
This specimen was lot 72149 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2024), where it sold for $750. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. "Royal" Presentation Cob 2 Reales, 1728-P M. Potosi Mint. Philip V. PCGS Genuine--Holed, VF Details. A well struck Cob on a round flan, typical of the 'Royal' type as illustrated in Calico. Mintmark, assayer, and year are visible on both sides, not obscured by the hole. From the S.P. Rutherford Collection." This type was struck for Philip V through his entire reign. Assayer "M" stamped coins 1728-32. The silver cobs were debased from 0.931 fine to 0.917 fine in 1728.
