This specimen was lot 1278 in Aureo y Calicó sale 391 (Barcelona, June 2022), where it sold for €150 (about US$189 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1653. Felipe IV. Potosí. E. 2 reales. PH bajo corona en reverso. Doble fecha, la del anverso 653. Manchitas. Rara. MBC-. (Bolivia, Philip IV, two reales of 1653, Potosí mint, "PH" below the crown on the reverse. Two dates, with the obverse date reading '653'. Rare, about very fine.)"

As part of the reform of 1652, the date was moved to the center of the obverse, greatly increasing the percentage of production with legible dates. This type was issued until 1667. Mexico City was the only other mint to strike two reales in 1653.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
