Bolivia 1629-P T 8 reales
This specimen was lot 560 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 27 (Winter Park, FL, May 2020), where it sold for $773.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Potosí, Bolivia, cob 8 reales, 1629T, denomination 8, heavy-dot borders. Bold date with full 29 and bottom half of 16, full dot-P-dot-T-dot, nearly full crown, full shield and cross, AVF with minor flat spots, some brown toning and verdigris." The Potosí mint was the second mint in the western hemisphere to date its products. Dating began in 1617. This date comes with assayer P (Cayón-6259) or with the mintmark engraved backwards (Cayón-6261).
