Sincona sale 47, lot 2092

This specimen was lot 2092 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$390 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Heiliges Romisch Reich, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. 17 Kreuzer 1752, Prag. Vorzüglich. Minimal justiert. (Holy Roman Empire, Austria, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, seventeen kreuzer of 1752, Prague mint. Extremely fine, Minor adjustment marks.)"

We don't know what prompted the issue of this denomination, which competed with contemporary ten, fifteen and twenty kreuzer, but various types were issued 1751-65 from Vienna, Prague (KM 763), Nagybanya, Kremnitz, Karlsburg, Hall (KM 2026.1) and Graz. Seventeen kreuzer with the bust of Maria Theresia also exist from Prague (KM 762, shown here), Vienna (KM 1782), Graz (KM 1795), Kremnitz (KM 356.1) and Hall (KM 1796).
