This specimen was lot 2973 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$3,768 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR/ÖSTERREICH, Rudolf II. 1576-1612 Taler 1590. Prag Dreikaisertaler. Selten. Sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Rudolf II (1576-1612), thaler of 1590, Prague mint with three emperors. Rare, very fine.)"
Davenport attributes this coin not to Prague but to Hall in the Tyrol but we side with recent research which favors Bohemian mints such as Joachimsthal or Prague. He mentions also similar double, triple and quadruple thalers.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 29.10 g.
