Künker sale 423, lot 32

This specimen was lot 32 in Künker Auction 423 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €24,000 (about US$33,984 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand I., 1522-1558-1564. Guldentaler o. J. (posthume Prägung nach 1564), Hall. Dreikaisertaler. + MAXI : CARO : ET(spiegelverkehrtes T und ET ligiert) : FERD : D : G : RO : CÆS : REG : HISP Die gekrönten und geharnischten Brustbilder der Kaiser Maximilian I., Karl V. und Ferdinand I., mit Vliesorden am Band, nebeneinander r.//+ HVNG : BO : DAL : CRO · ZC · ARCHID : AVST : D : BVR Doppeladler, auf der Brust zweifeldiges Wappen (Kastilien/Österreich). The auctioneers correctly call this a guldenthaler because of the weight but this coin has traditionally been catalogued as a full thaler (28-29 g) by Davenport and others. A three emperors design was used on a thaler of 1590 (Dav-8105).
