Belgium 1959 20 centimes rev DSLR.jpg

This twenty centimes was struck for king Baudouin I of Belgium, 1953-59 and 1962-63. This is a common date. The twenty centimes with Dutch legends (KM 147) was struck only in 1954 and 1960. The denomination was suspended after this issue, likely because inflation had made it worthless. A miner from Belgium's now vanished coal mines is depicted. The similar fifty centimes was struck until 2001. Belgium joined the euro in 2002 and all the franc coinage is obsolete.

Recorded mintage: 19,670, 000.

Specification: 2 g, bronze, 17 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM 146.
