This coin was struck 1953-54, 1957-59 and 1962-63. The obverse features a helmeted coal miner; the same design was used on the fifty centimes. All dates are worthless except for the very rare 1954. In 1949, the exchange rate was US$1 = fifty francs. Belgium joined the euro in 2002 and all the franc coinage is obsolete.
