This type was struck 1952-55 along with a similar twenty centimes (KM 146). Later styles (KM 148.1 and 148.2), with slight changes to the miner's bust on the reverse, were struck until the coming of the euro in 2002. In 1949, the exchange rate was US$1 = fifty francs. The coin is now obsolete.
Recorded mintage: 22,620,000 with French legends plus 22,930,000 with Dutch text (BELGIE).
Specification: 2.75 g, bronze, 19 mm diameter, plain edge.
