This frank was struck for kings Leopold III and Baudouin I of Belgium, 1950-88. This is a common date but slightly scarce in nice condition. A nearly equal quantity were struck with French legends (KM 142.1). Varieties exist with medal alignment (KM 143.2). In 1949, the exchange rate was US$1 = fifty francs. Belgium joined the euro in 2002 and all the franc coinage is obsolete.
Recorded mintage: 49,145,000 plus 53,205,000 with French legends.
