Jean Elsen sale 156, lot 1323

This specimen was lot 1323 in Jean Elsen sale 156 (Brussels, September 2023), where it sold for €220 (about US$282 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 2 centimes, 1860. 0 étroit. BRAEMT F. avec point. Superbe à Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper two centimes of 1860, narrow 0, engraver's signature with dot. Extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1833-65 in large quantities but most dates before 1845 are scarce in nice condition. The SCWC notes large and small date varieties.

Recorded mintage: 3,070,000, a common date.
