Jean Elsen sale 141, lot 817

This specimen was lot 817 in Jean Elsen sale 141 (Brussels, June 2019), where it sold for €4,400 (about US$5,831 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 2 centimes, 1838. BRAEMT F sans point. T incomplet. Extrêmement rare Flan poli. Superbe à Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper two centimes of 1838, engraver's name without dot. Struck on a polished blank, Extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"

The variety without dot (KM 4.4) is not listed for 1838.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce date.

Specification: 3.6 g, copper.
