Jean Elsen sale 136, lot 1127

This specimen was lot 1127 in Jean Elsen sale 136 (Brussels, March 2018), where it sold for €180 (about US$264 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 2 centimes, 1841. Très Beau à Superbe. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper two centimes of 1841. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1833-65 in large quantities but most dates before 1845 are scarce in nice condition.

Recorded mintage: 2,236,000, a better date.

Specification: 3.6 g, copper.
