Künker sale 335, lot 3599

This specimen was lot 3599 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €600 (about US$785 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BAYERN, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH: Maximilian I. (IV.) Joseph, 1799-1806-1825. 1/2 Konv.-Taler 1804, München. Seltener Jahrgang. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich +. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian Joseph, 1799-1825, half convention thaler of 1804, Munich mint. Rare date, handsome patina, extremely fine or better.)"

This type was struck 1803-05 and is expensive. It is the last half thaler struck before Napoleon promoted Maximilian Joseph to king.
