Künker sale 335, lot 3524

This specimen was lot 3524 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €460 (about US$602 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BAYERN, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH: Maximilian III. Joseph, 1745-1777. Konv.-Taler 1768, München. RR Sehr schön/sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian III Joseph, 1745-77, 1745-77, convention thaler of 1768, Munich mint. Rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This "arms reverse" thaler was struck simultaneously with a "Madonna reverse" thaler tho is much scarcer. Several varieties (Dav-1949, Dav-1950) exist.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.3833 fine silver, this specimen 27.84 g.
