Künker sale 335, lot 3549

This specimen was lot 3549 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €95 (about US$124 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BAYERN, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH: Maximilian III. Joseph, 1745-1777. Konv.-Taler 1770, A, Amberg. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian III Joseph, 1745-77, convention thaler of 1770, Amberg mint. Scarce in this quality, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck at Amberg 1763-77 along with Dav-1953 from Munich. It is perhaps the most common Bavarian thaler of the eighteenth century.
