Künker sale 263, lot 599

This specimen was lot 599 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €310 (about US$401 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Bavaria, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, Maximilian I. 1598-1651. Reichstaler 1625, München. Kl. Stempelfehler im Feld der Vorderseite, sehr schön. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian I, 1598-1651, thaler of 1625, Munich mint. Die break on the obverse, very fine.)"

This type is recorded for 1625 only and is listed as fairly common, which may more because of a plethora of similar designs (arms obverse, Madonna and Child reverse) issued in the 1620's.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-6071 A; Hahn 109, KM 197.
