This specimen was lot 1655 in Jean Elsen sale 117 (Brussels, June 2013), where it sold for €200 (about US$315 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, BAVIERE, Maximilien Ier (1598-1651), AR Taler, 1625, Munich. Au titre d'électeur. Droit: Ecu orné et couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Revers: La Madone à l'enfant dans une gloire, sur une nuée. Très Beau. (Germany, Bavaria, Maximilian I (1598-1651), silver thaler of 1625 with the title of elector, Munich mint. Obverse: crowned ornate shield with Order of the Golden Fleece around; reverse: Madonna and Child in a Glory, seated on a cloud. Very fine.)"
This type is recorded for 1625 only and is listed as fairly common, which may more because of a plethora of similar designs (arms obverse, Madonna and Child reverse) issued in the 1620's.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver, this specimen 29,43 g.
