Basel 1716 20 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 3037 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 525 CHF (about US$636 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Bistum Basel, Johann Konrad II. von Reinach-Hirzbach, 1705-1737. 20 Kreuzer 1716, Pruntrut. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Switzerland, bishopric of Basel, Johann Konrad II of Reinach-Hirzbach, 1705-37, twenty kreuzer of 1716, Pruntrut mint. Very fine-extremely fine.)"
The bishop of Basel was driven from his seat when Basel turned Protestant during the Reformation. He resided in Pruntrut and issued coins from there. This type was struck 1716-26.
