This specimen was lot 4728 in Goldberg sale 72 (Los Angeles, February 2013), where it sold for $20,700. The catalog description[2] noted, "Bahamas. 2500 Dollars, 1983. Elizabeth II. Reverse: National arms. On 10th Anniversary of Independence. Mintage only 55 pieces. NGC graded Proof 65 Ultra Cameo." This enormous object is a medallion masquerading as a coin. At $1680/oz, its melt value is $20,160.
