This specimen was lot 2339 in Goldberg sale 98 (Los Angeles, June 2017), where it sold for $317. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bahamas. 50 Dollars, 1974. Spiny Lobster. Choice Brilliant Proof." This type was struck 1973-77. In 1974, numerous varieties were manufactured to create artificial rarities.
Recorded mintage: 7,128 + 4,787 proofs (all varieties).
Specification: 8.19 g, 0.917 fine gold.
