This specimen was lot 3891 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €6,000 (about US$7,873 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz Josef I. 1848-1916. 4 Dukaten 1871, A, Wien. 13,76 g Feingold. GOLD. Vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, four ducats of 1871, Vienna mint. Extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1867-72. It has the diameter of a thaler but is much thinner. It was never restruck, unlike the later type, so it remains scarce.
