This specimen was lot 53671 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Pittsburgh, PA, August 2023), where it sold for $528. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Ducat, 1857-A. Vienna Mint. Franz Joseph I. PCGS AU-55." This type was struck 1854-59 at five mints and is common. Gold ducats were struck throughout Franz Josef's long reign and come in many types. This date is known from Vienna (Fr-490), Kremnitz, Venice, Milan and Karlsburg (Fr-233).
