"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Franz Josef I. 1848-1916. 4 Dukaten 1857, A, Wien. 13,76 g Feingold. GOLD. RR Mehrere Randfehler, vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, four ducats of 1857, Vienna mint. Very rare, some rim bumps, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1854-59. It has the diameter of a thaler but is much thinner. It was never restruck, unlike the later type, so it remains scarce.
