This specimen was lot 1095 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 775 CHF (about US$1,029 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"OSTERREICH, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. Dukat 1856 A, Wien. Vorzüglich. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, ducat of 1856, Vienna mint. Extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1854-59 at five mints and is common. Gold ducats were struck throughout Franz Josef's long reign and come in many types. This type was struck 1852-59 at Vienna (shown here)), Kremnitz ("B"), Karlsburg ("E"), Milan ("M") and Venice ("V"). This is a common date.
