This specimen was lot 2952 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$572 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. Dukat 1855 A, Wien. Sehr schön. Kleine Kratzer und Randfehler. (empire of Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, ducat of 1855, Vienna mint. Very fine, Small scratches and edge nicks.)"
This type was issued 1852-59 from the Vienna mint during the reign of Emperor Francis Joseph of Austria. This type was also minted at Karlsburg, Kremnitz (Komoczbanya in Magyar) and Venice. After the reorganization of the Hapsburg empire into the Dual Monarchy in 1867, Hungary received her own coinage separate from Austrian issues.
