Sincona sale 94, lot 2266

This specimen was lot 2266 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 437 CHF (about US$606 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Ferdinand V. 1835-1848. Dukat 1846 E, Karlsburg. Fast sehr schön. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, ducat of 1848, Karlsburg mint. About Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1837-48 at Vienna ("A"), Kremnitz ("B"), Karlsburg ("E") and Venice ("V") and most dates, including this one, are priced at their bullion value.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, 20 mm diameter, this specimen 3.45 g.
