Sincona sale 4, lot 5299

This specimen was lot 5299 in Sincona sale 4 (Zürich, October 2011), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$399 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ÖSTERREICH Ferdinand I. 1835-1848 Dukat 1845, Wien. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48, ducat of 1845, Vienna mint. Very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1837-48 in substantial numbers from Vienna (shown here), Kremnitz, Karlsburg and Venice.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 3.49 g, .983 fine gold, .109 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3,48 g.
