Austria 1845-V ducat Fr-1504
This specimen was lot 2335 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,926 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KAISERREICH ÖSTERREICH, Ferdinand I., 1835-1848. Dukat 1845 V, Venedig. 3,44 g Feingold. GOLD. RR Hitzespuren, sehr schön. Aus der Sammlung Kommerzialrat Dr. Herbert Wenzel, Wien. (empire of Austria, Ferdinand I, 1835-48,ducat of 1845, Venice mint. Very rare, solder mark, very fine.)"
This type was struck 1837-48 in substantial numbers from Vienna, Kremnitz, Karlsburg and Venice (shown here). Some authorities list this issue under Lombardy-Venetia but it differs only in mintmark from the Vienna product.
Recorded mintage: unknown but a rare date.
