Sincona sale 76, lot 1490

This specimen was lot 1490 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$243 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835. 20 Kreuzer 1830 A, Wien. Wien für Ungarn. Nur ein Band anliegend. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Vorzüglich. NGC AU58. (empire of Austria, Francis I, 1792-1835, Rare in this condition, Extremely fine.)"

This type was struck at Vienna (mintmark A, shown here), Kremnitz (B), Prague (C) and Karlsburg (E) 1829-30. This denomination, one-sixth of a thaler, was struck to this standard until 1852.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 6.68 g, 0.583 fine silver, this specimen 6.67 g.
