Sincona sale 38, lot 1829

This specimen was lot 1829 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$900 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835 Dukat 1829 E. Karlsburg. Vorzüglich-FDC. (empire of Austria, Francis I, 1792-1835, ducat of 1829, Karlsburg mint. Extremely fine-uncirculated.)"

This type was issued 1825-31 from Vienna (A), Kremnitz (B), Karlsburg (E) and Günzburg (G). Friedberg lists this under Hungary (the Karlsburg mint was in Transylvania) but the design was standard at all the Hapsburg mints.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.47 g.
