Sincona sale 101, lot 3328

This specimen was lot 3328 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,959 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835. Dukat 1828 E, Karlsburg. Vorzüglich-FDC. (empire of Austria, Francis II, 1792-1835, ducat of 1828, Karlsburg mint. About Uncirculated.)"

This type was issued 1825-31 from Vienna (A), Kremnitz (B), Karlsburg (E, shown here) and Günzburg (G). Friedberg lists this under Hungary (the Karlsburg mint was in Transylvania) but the design was standard at all the Hapsburg mints.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not rare.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 3.48 g.
