This specimen was lot 1824 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$960 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835 Sovrano 1793. Venedig. Fast vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis II, 1792-1835, sovrano of 1793, Venice mint. About extremely fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 2020 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 850 CHF (about US$1,233 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Franz II. (I.), 1792-1835. Sovrano 1793 V, Venedig. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis II (I), 1792-1835, souverain d'or of 1793, Venice mint. Very Fine-Extremely Fine.)"
This type is filed under the Austrian Netherlands, an area which is now Belgium and Luxembourg. Similar coins are known from Vienna, Günzburg, Kremnitz, Brussels, Milan and Hall. The type was struck 1792-98 and previous souverains d'or date back to the reign of Maria Theresa. This is the only issue with the "V" mintmark. The SCWC states this date was minted in 1823 at Günzburg.
