Künker Auction 426, lot 3173

This specimen was lot 3173 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €270 (about US$382 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Maria Theresia, 1740-1780. Konv.-Taler 1756, Hall. Sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, thaler of 1756, Hall mint. Very fine.)"

Austrian thalers for 1756 include KM 1816/Dav-1121 (shown here), KM 1817/Dav-1112 (Vienna mint) and KM 2038/Dav-1153 (for Francis I). This type was struck 1754-65 and is common. After Francis' death in 1765, the thalers of Maria Theresia were revised to depict her with a veil.
