Austria 1740 thaler Dav-1043
The first specimen was lot 3241 in Sincona sale 57 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$506 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Karl VI. 1711-1740. Taler 1740, Graz. Vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, thaler of 1740, Graz mint. Extremely fine.)"
The second specimen was lot 1945 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €360 (about US$510 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Karl VI., 1711-1740. Reichstaler 1740, Graz. Feine Tönung, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, thaler of 1740, Graz mint. Fine toning, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This one year type was accompanied by Dav-1038, from the Vienna mint, for 1740.
Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.
Specification: 28.82 g, 0.875 fine silver, the first specimen 28.72 g, the second specimen 28,62 g.
