Austria 1737 thaler Dav-1042
This specimen was lot 1942 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €500 (about US$708 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HABSBURGISCHE ERBLANDE-ÖSTERREICH · RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Karl VI., 1711-1740. Reichstaler 1737, Graz. Fast vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, thaler of 1737, Graz mint. About extremely fine.)"
Austrian thalers for 1737 include KM 1579.3/Dav-1038 (Vienna mint), KM 1610.3/Dav-1042 (shown here), KM 1639.1/Dav-1055 (Hall mint), KM 1639.2/Dav-1056 (Hall mint) and Dav-1086 (Prague mint). This one was struck 1735, 1737 and 1738 and is fairly common. Dav-1041, Dav-1042 and Dav-1043, all products of the Graz mint, vary in the arrangement of the drapery and armor on the obverse.
