Sincona sale 39, lot 4007

This specimen was lot 4007 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Karl VI. 1711-1740 Taler 1735. Graz. Fast vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, thaler of 1735, Graz mint. About extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1735-38 and is pretty common. Similar thalers were struck in Graz in 1732 (KM 1610.2), and 1723, 1728-29 (KM 1610.1). Other thalers for 1735 include Dav-1037 and -1038.

Recorded mintage: 131,000.

Specification: 28.82 g, 0.875 fine silver; this specimen is 28.68 g.
