Künker sale 406, lot 4547

This specimen was lot 4547 in Künker sale 406 (Osnabrück, March 2024), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,199 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Leopold I. 1657-1705. Doppelter Reichstaler 1682 (Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1675 geändert), IAN, Graz. Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. (Austria, Leopold I, 1657-1705, double thaler of 1682, 1682/75 overdate, Graz mint. Handsome patina, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck at Graz 1670, 1675, 1678, 1682 and 1684 and is occasionally available. Overdates are common from this mint. The accompanying single thaler (Dav-3232) is common.
