Austria 1638/4 1/4 thaler
This specimen was lot 1399 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,200 CHF (about US$2,670 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Ferdinand II. 1619-1637. 1/4 Taler 1638, Graz. Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1634 geändert. Posthume Prägung. Sehr selten. Vorzüglich. NGC AU55. Feine Patina. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1619-37, quarter thaler of 1638, Graz mint, 1638/4 overdate, posthumous strike. Very rare, Extremely fine, Nicely toned.)"
The SCWC lists this product of the Graz mint for 1623, 1630, 1634 and 1638. All of the 1638 issue seems to be the overdate.
