This specimen was lot 22096 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $805. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth II Penny 1958, Proof, Perth mint with 1,028 mintage, very choice." None of the proof pennies of the fifties are common but the 1955 and 1956 proofs from Perth are the key. The Melbourne mint also issued proofs. The dot after the word "PENNY" marks this as a Perth product.
Recorded mintage: 14,428,000 plus 1,028 proofs.
