Augsburg 1626 1/3 thaler KM-37

from the Stack's Bowers October 2020 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71491

This specimen was lot 71491 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $384. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Augsburg. 1/3 Taler, 1626. Ferdinand II. PCGS AU-55 Gold Shield. A nicely preserved example of the type displaying lovely rich multicolored patina. Clearly an example that sat for a prolonged period of time undisturb[ed] exhibiting good eye appeal adding to its desirability." This year also saw the issue of KM 38 (no shield on eagle's breast).
