Sincona sale 73, lot 1103

This specimen was lot 1103 in Sincona sale 73 (Zürich, November 2021), where it sold for 550 CHF (about US$708 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND | Anhalt-Köthen, Herzogtum. Ludwig, 1603-1650. Taler 1625, Eisleben. Auf den Tod seiner Gemahlin Amoena Amalia von Bentheim am 8. September. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Fassungsspuren und bearbeitet. (Germany, duchy of Anhalt-Kothen, Louis, 1603-50, thaler of 1625, Eisleben mint, on the death of his wife on September 8. Very rare, Very fine, Traces of mounting and repaired.)"

This thaler succeeded a thaler (Dav-6016) issued to mark the death of his son.
