This specimen was lot 2053 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,440 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Heiliges Romisch Reich, Erzherzog Maximilian III. 1612-1618. Doppeltaler 1614, Ensisheim. Sehr schön. Vergoldet. Rand etwas bearbeitet. (Holy Roman Empire, Austria, archduke Maximilian III, 1612-18, double thaler of 1614, Ensisheim int. Very fine, Gilded, Edge slightly tooled.)"
This rare type is listed for 1614 and 1619 in the SCWC under Alsace, then a Hapsburg fief. The area passed under French rule during the Thirty Years Year.
