Sincona sale 101, lot 3191
Ensisheim in upper Alsace. The political situation is of 1477, on the collapse of the Burgundians. Upper Alsace would be ruled by the Hapsburgs until 1648 when it passed to France.

This specimen was lot 3191 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$528 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Erzherzog Maximilian III. als Landesfürst von Tirol, 1612-1618. Taler 1615, Ensisheim. Vorzüglich. Feine Patina. (Holy Roman Empire, archduke of Maximilian III as prince of Tyrol, 1612-18, thaler of 1615, Ensisheim mint. Extremely Fine, Nicely toned.)"

This type, from Ensisheim in Alsace, is mentioned by Davenport for 1612-15 and as somewhat scarce. The French occupied the mint in 1632 and production ceased.
