This specimen was lot 2015 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 2,000 CHF (about US$2,400 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Heiliges Romisch Reich, Rudolf II. 1576-1612. Doppeltaler 1604, Ensisheim. Vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Austria, Rudolf II, 1576-1612, double thaler of 1604, Ensisheim mint. Extremely fine.)"
This rare type is listed for 1603-04, 1607, 1609 in the SCWC under Alsace, then a Hapsburg fief. The area passed under French rule during the Thirty Years Year.
