Künker sale 354, lot 6525

This specimen was lot 6525 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €400 (about US$557 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, PREUSSEN, Wilhelm II. 1888-1918. 20 Mark 1905, J. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, William II, 1888-1918, twenty mark of 1905, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This specimen is one of a type struck 1890-1913 at Berlin (mintmark "A") and Hamburg (mintmark "J"). Hamburg participated 1905-06, 1910-12. Most of the later dates are common.

Recorded mintage: 920,784, a slightly better date.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, .230 troy oz AGW.
