Ponterio sale 168, lot 40344

This specimen was lot 40344 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 2 Ruble, 1785-SP. NGC FINE-15. Catherine II (1762-96)." This, the last two rubles of the czarist regime, is known only for 1785-86.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.62 g, 0.917 fine gold, .077 troy oz AGW.
