This specimen was lot 22535 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $15,275. The catalog description[1] noted, "Catherine II gold 10 Roubles 1781 СПБ, Crowned bust right/Crowned cruciform shields, date in angles, XF45 PCGS. Well struck, for the issue, with abundant remaining luster and no glaring faults. A superior example of this rare gold type. From The William Jacob Collection, Part I." This type was struck 1777-82 and superseded the ten rubles of the Czarina Elizabeth which were 16.59 grams.
